Allah’s conditional love. That is vastly different from God’s abounding love. Allah even tells Muslims not to love, not to love unbelievers.

As opposed to Allah’s conditional love, consider God’s love as the Bible describes it. John 3:16–17 (ESV): “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

Romans 5:8 (ESV): But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

John 1:12–13 (ESV): But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, the gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Many more verses could be cited. Think of the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Luke 15:11–32. As the prodigal is returning, the father runs to meet him (an undignified act according to the mores of the time). The father not only loves the prodigal, but he rebukes the older brother for rejecting his prodigal younger brother. Compare Surah 58:22, with Matthew 5:44–45.

Qur’an 58:22a (Ali): Thou wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred.

Matthew 5:44–45 (NAU): But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

That is a stark comparison isn’t it? Those who believe in Allah, i.e. Muslims, must not love anyone who does not believe in Allah, including fathers, sons, or brothers. Christians, on the other hand, are commanded to love their enemies, i.e. those who do not love, and in fact hate, Jesus Christ; to pray for them. Doing so indicates that we are sons of God the Father.

There is a vast difference between the conditional love of Allah and the love of God, isn’t there? As Christians, we know the love of God. As Christians, our future is secure in Christ. Muslims know neither that depth of love nor that security.

That is what God can give: the Father’s genuine love, and the love of Jesus Christ, who loved us so much that He willingly came to earth and died in our place for our sins. Through faith in Jesus Christ, the real biblical Jesus Christ, not the Islamic Eesa, a Muslim can know that love, that peace, that eternal hope, and that security; things that do not exist in Islam. It does mean leaving Islam; it does mean becoming a Christian.

God gives us that choice: we can either serve Allah as his slave, One who demands that we kill for him; or the true God, whose Son, Jesus Christ, loved and died for us, that through Him we could become part of His eternal family. The first way leads to eternal death, the second way leads to eternal life. Choose wisely.
