False Gospels and False Bibles, Part 3D

We closed the previous entry with the following two quotes from Send Network’s new booklet:

“Our refusal to validate our neighbor’s current struggles is often more offensive than the gospel itself.”

“We need to stand in the gap and engage when we see disparity.”

As we will see, both statements represent a full endorsement of CRT. What is curious is that SBC leadership has been insistent that they have not embraced CRT. Yet, as we’ve seen leadership previously rewrote a statement that had rejected CRT to one that was not against it, seeing it instead as a viable tool (Voddie Baucham discloses all the changes in “Fault Lines”).

As Voddie Bacuham, and others, point out, CRT is its own religion. All social ills and problems are reduced to an issue of systemic racism and white privilege. Have problems resulted from racism? Yes. Have some whites, at times done horrific things to blacks? Yes. Do some of the issues still need addressing? Yes. But are all problems a result of systemic racism? No!

The number one issue is personal sin. The sin issue has been present from the beginning. The very first person born killed the second person to ever have been born. Why? As the Scriptures tell us, the younger brother was righteous, and the older brother evil (1 John 3:11–12). At that point systemic racism and privilege did not exist, but Cain still murdered Abel.

Are some aspects of economic disparity the result of unequal opportunity? Yes. Does that need to be changed? Yes. But others are the result of personal choices and poor decisions, in other words, personal sin. Regardless of the evils done to us—see my second book One in Christ for a discussion of some of the awful things that happened to me—our own choices, our own sin, greatly impacts our lives, the places we end up. If people’s lives are not changed, and true change only comes through the work of Jesus Christ in a person’s life, any other sort of change has no lasting effect.

One of the biggest problems with CRT is that it blames all of one’s problems on others, one has no personal responsibility. There are good reasons why the “faith once handed down” emphasizes personal sin. If personal sin is not dealt with, no lasting change is possible. In the end CRT will only exacerbate the problem, as CRT rejects the underlying cause: personal sin.

In their recent booklet, Send, and by extension NAMB, have rejected the true Gospel for the lie of CRT. It does precious little good to “restore a city” while those in that city still end up going to hell. Remember, according to Send, planting churches is now just “a” way to the new end goal of restoring cities. What that “restoration” is, is left undefined.
