The End Times: Islam vs. the Bible: Part 12: Allah’s promised Paradise?

Allah’s promised Paradise. What do we make of it? If ever there was a place that could be described as a garden of earthy delights, it is Allah’s Paradise.

What did we see? When it comes to eating and drinking, in Paradise, believers have the strength of one hundred men; a believer has seventy-two houris as wives to sexually enjoy, two of which are the wives he had while on earth; he also has endless sexual stamina (the hadiths go into graphic detail how that is possible). Sensuality, in all its forms, is front and center.

But, what do we make of it? First, if Allah is the same God as the God of the Old and New Testaments, as Muslims claim, at some point, He must have changed His mind (but see 1 Samuel 15:29). At no point did God condone a life given over to sensuality. In addition, Jesus is clear: there is no marriage or giving in marriage at the Resurrection. People will be like the angels (Matthew 22:30). Yet here, in Allah’s Paradise, there is marriage and endless sex. There is one clear conclusion: Allah is not the same being as the God described in the Old and New Testaments. Allah is someone else.

For women, does Allah’s Paradise sound like a genuine paradise? Clearly not. Islam’s “Paradise” is a land that centers around the gratification of every male sinful physical desire (have as much sex as you want, with at least seventy-two wives, seventy of whom have been specially created by Allah for Paradise). There is even one hadith that states that in Paradise, clouds will rain whatever a believer desires, including additional beautiful women. Women are every bit as subordinate to Muslim males, perhaps even more so, as they were on earth. As for a woman who may have been married to more than one man, she ends up with the husband who had the best manners. The hadiths make it clear that women in Paradise will be completely content, demure, happily subservient. Note also that other hadiths state that most of the inhabitants of the hellfire will be women.

Perhaps one of the saddest things is that historically, Muslims have willingly died fighting jihad, even doing so joyfully, to achieve the guarantee of Allah’s promised Paradise, a promise made to those who die while fighting jihad (warfare against the infidels). Although beyond the scope of this series, Islam forbids most enjoyable things while on earth: from music, to wine, to playing chess or backgammon—even the childhood game of Monopoly is forbidden, since it involves chance—to most forms of the creative arts, to even enjoying the scent of flowers while on the hajj (required pilgrimage to Mecca). The most extreme sects even forbid laughter, as laughter is viewed as being frivolous. All these things distract from one’s devotion to Allah. Muslims are commanded to set aside enjoyment of life here, for the promised future delights of Allah’s sensual Paradise.

But, will Muslims find Allah’s promised Paradise after the Day of Judgment? We have already discovered that Allah describes himself as a deceiver, a shyster, a schemer. How does any Muslim know whether Allah’s Paradise is awaiting them or not? We will continue our discussion in the next post by asking: Who is Allah?
