The End Times: Islam vs. the Bible: Part 7a: Judgment Day

The judgment horn is blown. The first horn sounds: everyone on earth and in heaven are terrified. The Qur’an goes into detail about how terrible the day will be. If Allah chooses, exceptions are possible. For example, all Allah’s martyrs will be protected from the terror. The earth moves from its place and the mountains crumble.

Note: in Islam a martyr is someone who dies while engaging in jihad, while killing polytheists and other infidels. Thus according to Islam, any Gazan who died while committing the atrocities they committed on October 7, is a celebrated martyr. It is the direct opposite of a Christian martyr: someone who dies while or for peacefully sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

The second horn sounds: everyone dies; at first the two angels with the horns are still alive, as is the angel of death, plus the angels that bear up Allah’s throne. One by one they also die, until Allah is the only one left alive in the universe. During the intervening period Allah creates a different heaven and earth.

Allah raises the angel of death first, then the other angels are brought back to life. Allah sends rain on the new earth, and each person’s soul regrows. Allah throws all the regrown souls into the trumpet, and the trumpet is blown for the third time. People are resurrected, Muslims full of light, all others full of darkness. Everyone will be naked, barefoot, and the men will be uncircumcised.

Muhammad will be raised first. But curiously, he will find Moses already alive, clinging to the base of Allah’s throne. Did Allah exempt Moses from the consequence of the trumpets? Muhammad stated that he did not know. One wonders, if Muhammad is the greatest of all the prophets, why in this hadith does it seem like Moses is greater?

Abraham is the first to be clothed, but the preeminent place is given to Muhammad. According to one hadith, Muhammad will intercede for his parents, but the comment is made that this hadith likely preceded Allah’s command to not seek forgiveness or pray for the disbelievers and the hypocrites. A question: How does that impact events that one would think are fixed and happen as part of eternity? Also, the contrast between Islam and Christianity is striking. Don’t seek forgiveness or pray for the disbelievers, compared to pray for those who wrongfully use you, and forgive them (just as Jesus did while hanging on the cross).

The day will be unfathomably hot. Sweat will come up to the ankles of some, while for others it will come up to their knees, groin, stomachs, or even all the way up to their mouths.

The Qur’an, 14:48–52, indicates that the criminals (disbelievers, etc.) will be bound together, their clothing pitch, and their faces will be on fire.

The Day of Judgment will last 50,000 years. Thirst and hunger will become unbearable and those destined for hell, once there, will be forced to quench their thirst by drinking the boiling water of hell.

Muhammad alone will be able to intercede for others, not Moses, not Jesus, only Muhammad, as he is the seal of the prophets (note the twist on Jesus being the only one to be able to break the seals and open the book in Revelation 5).

There are a few hadiths that say that either 99 out of 100 or 999 out of every 1,000 people will end up in hell. A neck will come out of hellfire and speak: it will throw all those who said Allah had partners (i.e. Christians) into hell.

Unlike the miseries disbelievers face on the Day of Judgment, for Muslims, their situation and what they face, will be different, as we will see in the next post.
