The "Religion of Peace" Strikes Again

So Hamas has launched a major offensive with thousands of rockets, and “freedom fighters” infiltrating and attacking Israel, especially targeting women and children.

The nation of Israel occupies a land area roughly the size of the state of Massachusetts, a tiny little country. Once Israel counterattacks, most of the world will side against them, and blame them for committing atrocities, the cause of all the Arab woe, conveniently ignoring the roots of the provocations. Zechariah 12:1–10 comes to mind.

Our true national religion, secular humanism (self-defined as a religion), lumps all other religions together. Not surprisingly, that is an outright lie. Even if one is not a Christian, all religions are not the same.

Have those who claim Islam is a “religion of peace” taken the time to actually read the Qur’an? If one bothers to read it, one quickly discovers it is anything but a “religion of peace.” Sure, within adherents, there is supposed to be peace—though Surah 4:34 does state that if a wife is suspected of disloyalty, the husband is to beat her until she submits*—but outside Islam, in the end, not at all.

Those who follow religions of the book—meaning Christians and Jews—are to be given time to realize that their books are corrupt and false; time to realize Islam is the only true religion. If they refuse, death follows, hence the “time-honored” practice of either forced-conversion or death. Indeed, to dare state that Jesus is God is to utter one of the worst blasphemies possible within Islam.

Jihad is a required duty. While there is some justification in saying that a nominal Christian and a nominal Muslim will live life in similar peaceful ways, a dedicated Christian will hopefully become more loving and Christ-like, while a dedicated follower of Islam, will become more like Muhammad, warlike and violent.

Indeed, for Islam, there is a never-ending conflict between those within Islam and those outside. Genesis 16:11–12 comes to mind (it is noteworthy that according to the Qur’an, Ishmael was offered on the altar to God by Abraham, not Isaac). To die while actively engaged in jihad is seen as a blessed way to die, perhaps the only way to know for certain that one will be admitted to paradise (the Islamic paradise is very male-centric).

The point is, with the latest attack on Israel, the world is once again seeing the truth about “the religion of peace”. We went through it ourselves on 9/11 as planes crashed into the world trade center with the hijackers shouting that doing that was to god’s glory, but that reality behind the attacks was quickly and deliberately erased.

Let us pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6).

*The meaning of Surah 4:34 is contested by some modern Islamic apologists, but they often use a deliberately altered version of that verse to avoid dealing with the problem. The earliest translations and interpretations of that verse do indeed confirm the validity of “beating”. As some have pointed out, it is fair to ask: If Islam is the ultimate revelation from God, why is beating women now allowed, when the earlier Christian New Testament has no trace of it? Isn’t that a massive step backwards? In contrast, the New Testament commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church.
